Athletics announces Bobcat Network
Montana State football games are covering the state this year on the State Farm Bobcat Radio Network.
"Montana State's 13-station network reaches all four corners of the state, and features stations in markets in which the Bobcats haven't been present for several years," said Taylor Brown, '79 AnSci, of the Northern Broadcasting System (NBS). NBS and Clear Channel Radio-Bozeman have built the Network.
The NBS will distribute MSU football and men's basketball games for the next three years, with Bozeman's KXLB-FM serving as the flagship station.
"We're pleased to be able to take Bobcat Athletics to a large portion of the state of Montana," Brown said. "This is a very strong network, and I think it's significant that we've reached into several markets that we haven't been in for a number of years."
Brown urged MSU fans throughout the state to actively support the network.
"It's important that those of us who are Bobcats understand that these stations have many programming choices, and the best way to ensure that they will continue to carry Bobcat games is for people to thank their hometown stations with a note or a phone call," he said. "It's also important for people who can to place advertising dollars inside Bobcat games to support the broadcasts in that way."
MSU athletic director Peter Fields said one of his priorities since beginning at Bobcat Athletics in May has been to enhance the program's exposure in Montana. "This is a tremendously strong network, both in terms of area covered and in the number of potential listeners," he said. "This should answer the concerns of some of the Bobcats I met while traveling the state this spring and summer about radio availability. I'm excited that Northern Broadcasting and Clear Channel have been able to build a network this strong in such a short period of time."
