Class Notes 1980s
Jon-Anthony Lamb, '80 ElEd (Edu, Hlth, & Hum Dev), Helena, is currently serving a one-year active duty tour with the Montana Air National Guard.
Frank Witt, '82 AgBu (Business), Billings, has been named the manager of the Billings Merrill Lynch office. In addition to office oversight, he will continue to be a producing financial advisor providing comprehensive wealth management. His wife, Jill (Brown) Witt, '82 BuMk (Business), is at home with their two girls, Shawnee, 14 and Savannah, 10.
James Powell, '83 BuFi (Business), recently accepted the president position at Rocky Mountain Bank in Bozeman. James moved from Billings where he worked many years for Wells Fargo.
Bob Schleicher, '84 BuMk (Business), '86 M (Letters & Science), Helena, was appointed by Gov. Brian Schweitzer to be the Citizens' Advocate. He serves in the Montana Governor's Office.
Jeffrey Sipes, '86 MCE (Engineering), Sumner, Wash., completed a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California last May.
Kathleen Tonkovich, '88 BuFi (Business), was promoted to vice president at First Security Bank in Bozeman in 2004.
Jody Collis, EX '89 (Business), earned her MBA from the University of Minnesota in December 2002 and is currently working as an IT audit manager for Pentair, a global manufacturing company. She married Jeff King on January 1. They live in Chanhassen, Minn., in a new house Jeff built.
Greg Snortland, '89 BuFi (Business), Peyton, Colo., is co-founder of a new Web-based marketing company called Rippleffx. His extensive background will allow him to help clients navigate the often confusing process of developing a Web marketing strategy that is targeted, effective and offers measurable results.
Hillary Smith, '89 Hist, Cornell Law School, was recently honored by the New York County Lawyer's Assoc. when she was named an "Outstanding Woman of the Bar" for 2004. She is senior vice president and general counsel of DoubleClick, Inc. in New York City.
Garth Smith, '86 BioS, is an orthopedic surgeon practicing in Annapolis, Md. He trained at Johns Hopkins Medical School, Cornell's hospital for special surgery in New York City, and Harvard's Brigham & Woman's Hospital for hand and micro vascular surgical training. Hillary and Garth are the children of Sharongae Hardgrove Smith, '60 Nurs, and the late Richard Smith, '51 Fish & Wildlife Mgt, '52 M. Sharongae writes that "they both received their good beginnings, along with their mom and dad, at MSU."
