Library of the Year
Montana State's Renne Library was named the Montana Library of the Year by the Montana Library Association. The award honors the recently renovated library that was transformed from 1950's sterility to a pleasant, contemporary space during a three-year, $8.3 million renovation project. The library update was accomplished while the library remained open. MSU Library Dean Bruce Morton commends staff and students who endured "drilling, screeching, dragging, pounding, whirring, humming, blowing and, occasionally, burning" during the renovation. MSU alumni are invited to check out the improvements in the library, which was originally built in 1948 with an addition in 1961 to accommodate a student population one-half of today's 12,000 student enrollment.
