Class Notes 1930s
Howard Lindenmeyer, '38 EE, Glendale, Calif., worked for Douglas Aircraft during WWII and then Southern Cal Edison Co. He passed the exam for Associate Electrical Engineers for the California Public Utilities Commission and worked in several sections, ending up as senior electrical engineer after 25 years of service. He retired to go into the motion picture business. He still gets royalties from four of his titles.
Class Notes 1940s
Martin Carlson, '43 EE, Bigfork, went immediately into the Navy after graduation. After completing a diesel engineering course he was asked to remain as an instructor. He finished four years at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He taught electrical engineering at Denver University for four years. He then went to the Bureau of Reclamation to be in charge of dams, power lines and sub-stations in North Dakota and Colorado until he retired in 1979.
Clarence "Clancy" Rich, '43 EE, Jordan, is a retired naval aviator and rancher. He lives in Cape Coral, Fla., in the winter and in Montana in the summer. He and his wife, Ann, are involved in many volunteer activities, including flying with Sundowners, Inc., a search and rescue organization, and with the Angel Flight organization. Although they are in their 80's, he and Ann keep quite active. They swim, play a little golf and still do some international traveling. Clancy was selected to be the grand marshall of the Cape Coral Veteran's Day Parade.
John Facey, '48 CE, Santa Rosa, Calif., has been living alone since April 1991 when his wife, Frances, died. He is moving into Oakmont Gardens, a retirement establishment in Oakmont, a community within the city limits of Santa Rosa.
Class Notes 1950s
Wyman Nyquist, '50 Agron, W. Lafayette, Ind., and his wife, have donated real estate to the MSU Foundation for an endowment in support of merit scholarships in the College of Agriculture.
Earl Rangitsch, '50 EE, Binghamton, N.Y., is enjoying retirement. He and his wife, Ellen, have three grown children. He is still gardening on a reduced scale, from a 100' by 100' garden down to a 10' by 10' garden.
Richard Caruso, '52 Bus, Livingston, "had a great time at the 50-year graduation and being able to carry the Olympic Torch on campus."
Jean (Thomas) Spurgeon, EX'53 EdHE, Geraldine, has four children. Three are MSU grads. Two are teachers and the third is an accountant.
Jeanine (Martinell) Bailiff, '54 Nurs, lives in Vancouver, Wash. She was director of nursing at Southwest Washington Hospital, Fort Vancouver Convalescent Center, and did intake and quality assurance at Kimberly Home Health before she retired. She spent 40 years in the nursing field. A member of Soroptimist International, she recently received the Soroptimist of the Year award. Jeanine has been a widow for five years. She has three children and two grandchildren.
William Haney, Jr., '56 ME, Costa Mesa, Calif., retired from McDonnell Douglas in 1992 after 35 fun years working space programs such as Thor, Delta, Saturn, Skylab and Space Station. He lost his beloved wife Cathleen to cancer in May 1993. He met and married his lovely Thai wife, Pom, in Feb. 1995. His family includes four children, nine grandchildren and one great grandson.
Russell Johnson, '58 AgEd, Sidney, sells mineral supplements and Mix 30, a liquid cattle supplement in eastern Montana and western North Dakota. Son Craig, '80 AgMe, and wife, Kari (Martinell), '80 Pre-Vet, and son Calvin, '82 AgMe are ranching and farming in Sidney along with Craig and Kari's sons Cole and Ben.
