Women's
basketball team played a great season

| The
Bobcat women's basketball team, for the first
time since the 1992-93 season, finally got
a chance to dance. |
| It
had been 10 years since a MSU women's team
advanced to postseason play. A decade ago,
head coach Judy Spoelstra led the Bobcat women
to a Big Sky Conference title and a trip to
the NCAA Championships. |
| Now,
10 years later, head coach Robin Potera-Haskins
has guided the Montana State women to back-to-back
league titles, and this winter a dance in
the Women's NIT. |
| This
season, the Bobcats posted a 21-9 overall
mark and an 11-3 Big Sky Conference ledger.
MSU hit the 20-win plateau for only the third
time in the history of the Bobcat program
and the first since the 1992-93 campaign. |
|
|
| MSU's
season came to an end in Fort Collins, Colo., in the first-round
of the WNIT with an 87-74 loss to Colorado State. The
'Cats played one of the toughest schedules in program
history as five opponents made the NCAA tournament, while
three more played in the WNIT. |
| This
year's edition of 'Cat basketball was led by senior Isabel
Stubbs. The native of Ayr, Australia, led the Big Sky
Conference in scoring, averaging 16.1 points and 8.4 rebounds
per game. For her efforts, Stubbs was named the co-MVP
of the Big Sky Conference, the second straight honor for
a Bobcat player, and was a unanimous first-team all-conference
selection, as well. |
| Also
named to the league's first-team was senior Candis Wilcox
of Rexburg, Idaho. Wilcox finished the season averaging
10.2 points and 5.1 assists per game. In addition, sophomore
Kati Burrows, Bozeman, was named to the honorable-mention
team, while sophomore Brandi Lewis, Siloam Springs, Ark.,
was named the Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year.
|
| The
Bobcats will lose the services of seniors Jinnifer Jeresek,
Cassie Johnson, Wilcox and Stubbs next season. However,
they will return three starters and five letter winners. |
