Groseth named MSU vice president for intercampus affairs
Rolf Groseth, who has coordinated the four campuses of the Montana State University system for 10 years, has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president for inter-campus affairs with increased responsibility for coordinating MSU campuses in Billings, Great Falls, Havre as well as Bozeman, according to MSU President Geoff Gamble.
"The nature of Rolf's position and the responsibilities he has taken on require him to work at the vice presidential level," said President Gamble. "We look forward to the contributions that he will continue to make to MSU and the state."
"It continues to be a privilege for me to serve MSU in this capacity. I am very pleased that President Gamble has recognized the importance of my work in coordinating MSU's four campuses," Groseth said.
Groseth said this is a clear time of transition for the four-campus university. The campuses were merged 10 years ago, sharing a logo and a tagline, which Groseth said "was an important announcement in the restructuring of the university system." Groseth said his mission will be to help the four campuses operate as a four-unit university, while retaining and marketing the distinctive programmatic nature that makes each so important to Montana.
Groseth has worked his way up the ranks of MSU administrators. A native of suburban Chicago, Groseth received his bachelor's degree in political science from Michigan State University in 1969, where he was also an All-American in swimming. He earned his master's degree in higher education and student personnel from Iowa State University and his doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Florida. Groseth also served two years in the U.S. Army, including a 12-month tour of duty in Vietnam.

Groseth came to MSU in 1977 as the director of Student Activities after serving as the director of a residence hall at Georgetown University and an assistant dean for student services at the University of Florida. While at MSU, Groseth also served as dean of students and vice provost. He has been the executive assistant to the president, and the MSU System coordinator, since 1994.

Groseth is married to Jaynee Drange Groseth, executive director of the MSU Alumni Association. They have two sons, Peder and Anders.
