Scholarships awarded to kids of alumni
Alumni who send their children to MSU make an investment in the university, and the Alumni Association shows its appreciation through the Alumni Legacy scholarship program. This past year 10 scholarships were awarded to students who are children of MSU alumni. Below are three of those students who received this special scholarship.

Jordan Salo
Jordan Salo received a 2005 Award for Excellence, identifying him as one of MSU's top 41 seniors. A Presidential Scholar studying accounting with a minor in information technology, Salo is a member of Phi Kappa Phi (that puts him in the top 5 percent of his junior class), Golden Key International Honor Society and Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society. He is a member of the Accounting Club, has volunteered as a tutor, participated in Bowl for Kids Sake, is involved with the MSU Intramurals program, and has received numerous scholarships and recognitions for his academic excellence, as well as extracurricular involvements.
Last summer he served an internship for the State of Montana Legislative Audit Division. He received the MSU Alumni Association's Alumni Legacy Scholarship for his leadership and academic achievement while at MSU. He is from Helena and attended Capital High School. Salo's mother, Eileen Rowe Salo, is an MSU alumna, class of 1981.

Kirstin Schipf
A sophomore at MSU, Schipf is quickly becoming one of MSU's campus superstars. She currently carries a GPA above 3.5 in the chemical engineering curriculum. Schipf is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, is a Child Advancement Program volunteer, is active with Campus Crusade and participated in the MSU Spring Break Away program. A Highwood High School athlete, she continues to enjoy Intramural sports at MSU, is a member and officer of the SPURS honorary and a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority since her freshman year. She is the AOII treasurer, as well as serving on several committees.
At MSU for just two years, Schipf has shown a high level of participation and volunteerism. She's sure to continue to do great things at MSU. Her parents are Annette (Swan), '80, and John Schipf, '79.

Desiree Stensland

An elementary education major, Stensland grew up in Missoula and attended Sentinel High School. She is an avid Bobcat fan, attending games and sporting blue and gold. (We so love "Missoula Bobcats") Stensland is a TeleCat (calling prospective MSU students), is a Child Advancement Program volunteer and has been in the MSU Chorale for three years. She has been a Little Bobcat Track volunteer as well as a speech and debate judge in college. Stensland aspires to be a teacher and tells us, "I enjoy working with children, and I am excited to make a difference in their lives through the educational learning process." Her parents are Dean and Kim (Broadhurst) Stensland, both class of 1980.
