Class Notes 1990s
Jerry Worley, '90 SecEd, is teaching in the Curriculum and Instruction Dept. of the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Miss. He successfully defended his doctoral defense on February 6 and is doing research on elements that contribute to rapport between teacher and student. Jerry lives in Hattiesburg.
Dawn (Falcon) Snow, '91 Spcm, competed at the American Quarter Horse World Championship Show in Oklahoma City in November. She was awarded a Reserve World Championship Trophy and three "top 10" honors while competing against the best quarter horses in the country. This continues Dawn's winning streak of either a World Championship or Reserve World Championship 6 years running. Dawn and her husband, Joe, live near San Antonio, Texas, where Joe works for Level 3 Communications and Dawn owns a travel agency. They have a 2-year-old daughter, Taylor.
Mark Mathewson, '92 Hist, Lincoln, Neb., graduated from the Univ. of Nebraska-Lincoln in Dec. 2003, with a Ph.D. in philosophy.
Billi Jo Doll, '94 RSci, Chinook, had her first novel, The Seekers, released in February. The Seekers is a science fiction war survival book for young adults. It is available through any bookstore or Internet book seller. It was published by Publish America of Fredericksburg, Md. "I'd be thrilled to have one of my first book signings at my alma mater."
Brad Bergum, '95 Acctg, recently moved from Sunnyvale, Calif., to San Francisco where he is working as a treasury manager with Aspect Communications.
Paul Skinner, '95 Eng Lit, still lives in Kearney, Neb., where he works for Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska as clinic coordinator for the commodities distribution program and Target stores. Paul would like to know if there are any other MSU alums near Kearney.
Ed DeYoung, '96 M, has moved from California back to the northern Rocky Mountains and now lives in northern Idaho where he works for the University of Idaho in Coeur d' Alene as a GIS instructor. He also has his own GIS consulting business. The UI GIS certificate program was recently covered in an article in the Spokane Spokesman Review.
Desiree (Miller) Lenard, '97 ElEd, Wenatchee, Wash., continues to teach 6th grade in Wenatchee. She is now an accredited leader for LaLeche League International, offering information and support to nursing mothers. She also works part time teaching childbirth classes at Central Washington Hospital. She and her husband, Frederick, are thoroughly enjoying 20-month old Karin Elizabeth.
LaWana "Lu" Sweet, '97 EdD, lives with her three children, ages 7, 5 and 1 in Rock Springs, Wyo. Lu is the principal at East Junior High School.
Sara Reagor, '98 Psyc, State College, Pa., received an M.S. degree in industrial relations and human resources from Penn State University in December 2003. Her husband, Cameron, '99 ME, is in his last year of completing his Ph.D. in Acoustics at Penn State.
Capt. Jessica Brower, '99 Micro, received her DVM from Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine and has completed Officer Basic Training. She is now assigned to Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, S.D.
