Record Enrollment at MSU
Montana State University's fall enrollment has set a new record with 12,135 students officially on campus, university officials reported.
In addition to a record headcount, MSU also has enrolled the largest freshman class in the university's 110-year history with 2,165 students.
MSU enrolled about 200 students more than last year's fall enrollment of 11,934, according to Registrar Chuck Nelson. The enrollment number includes a record number of Montana students.
Allen Yarnell, vice president for student affairs, said the university is "delighted that Montanans continue to select us as their school of choice. Students come to MSU because of the high-quality education. They stay because of the high quality of the faculty, cutting-edge research facilities and successful job placement.
Yarnell credited the work of MSU's Admissions and New Student Services as well as faculty, staff and students who helped recruit the record number of students. He said MSU statistics are up in virtually every category: freshmen, graduate students, resident students, out-of-state students and in terms of FTE, or the average number of classes taken by the student body.
Yarnell said enrolling students is just the beginning of success.
"We are committed to the students succeeding," Yarnell said. "We hope they have not only a great year, but a great college career here at MSU."
