Loses a Legend |
| Max
Worthington, '32 PE, a legendary MSU Bobcat,
passed away on August 21 at the age of 93.
An outstanding ambassador for MSU and well-know
figure on campus, Max was a starting guard
for the 1929 national champion "Golden" Bobcats.
He was named to MSU's 10 greatest athletes
by the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. In 1985 the
basketball arena within the Brick Breeden
Fieldhouse was named in his honor. At his
70th class reunion in 2002, he was recognized
for his 75 years as a member of the "M" club. |
| As
a student at MSC, Max excelled in football
and basketball and captained both teams when
he as a senior. |

| He
coached the basketball team for one season, was an assistant
football coach and PE instructor, and then served as Director
of Alumni for 25 years under MSU President Roland Renne
and was Dean of Student Affairs from 1964-73. |
| Max
was married to Dorothy Maebel Douglas for 57 years. He
is survived by his son, Doug of Bozeman, four grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren. |
