MSU Loses a Legend
Max Worthington, '32 PE, a legendary MSU Bobcat, passed away on August 21 at the age of 93. An outstanding ambassador for MSU and well-know figure on campus, Max was a starting guard for the 1929 national champion "Golden" Bobcats. At his 70th class reunion in 2002, he was recognized for his 75 years as a member of the "M" club.
As a student at MSC, Max excelled in football and basketball and captained both teams when he as a senior.
He coached the basketball team for one season, was an assistant football coach and PE instructor, and then served as Director of Alumni for 25 years under MSU President Roland Renne and was Dean of Student Affairs from 1964-73.
Max was married to Dorothy Maebel Douglas for 57 years. He is survived by his son, Doug of Bozeman, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
