Class Notes 1980s
Mark Erickson, '81 IA, farms/ranches near Scoby. His oldest son has accepted an appointment to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. He will be majoring in engineering.
Diana Madsen-Schofield, '81 ElEd, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her store, Rockbridge Music located in Lexington, Va. In addition to selling musical instruments and accessories, she also gives music lessons on a variety of instruments. "After working at the Backporch Pickin Parlor in Bozeman while in college, I knew I loved that life." She plays in a bluegrass band called "Diana and the Tabasco Boys," and in July she opened the NAMM (a music industry trade show) in Nashville. She lives with her husband, John, an environmental engineer, and their four children, Amanda, 18, Daniel, 17, Emily, 13, and Thomas, 10.
Nora (Cromwell) Mazzolini, '84 Nurs, Great Falls, is an RN, CCM and currently the Outreach Nurse for MONARC (Montana, Orthopedic, Neurologic and Rehabilitative Care) Occupational Health Services at Benefis Healthcare in Great Falls. She recently passed the national exam to become a certified case manager. Nora is married to Craig Mazzolini and they have two sons, AJ, age 14, and Dan, age 10.
Robert Ballensky, '84 AgBu, Eagle, Idaho, and wife, Marla, have two sons, Cameron, age 15, and Cassidy, age 12. Robert is director of quality assurance at Syngenta Seeds, Inc.
Janet Muller-Trethewey, '85 PE, '88 M, '97 EdD, Havre, is starting her 16th year at MSU-Northern teaching health and exercise science full time. She is retired from athletic training.
Leticea "Tisa" Stevenson-Pablo, '87, Proctor, Okla., married a childhood friend, Dan Pablo, who is a general surgeon. Tisa is a family doctor. They both graduated from the Univ. of Washington Medical School, and then moved to Saginaw, Mich., where they completed their residencies. They moved to Oklahoma in 1999 and live in a little valley called "Pumpkin Hollow" at the base of the Ozark Mountains. She is a country doctor employed by the Cherokee Nation and does house calls. Dan is a surgeon at the W.W. Hastings Indian Health Hospital in Tahlequah, Okla., and is a race car driver on weekends. Tisa is part of the pit crew. They are expecting their first child (a boy) in September.
Jennifer (Yelich) Peabody, '87 EdHE, Ekalaka, has acquired a business, Bigsky Sewing Kits. She has also been teaching in the Ekalaka Public School system for 16 years.
Kathleen Tonkovich, '88 Bus, Bozeman, graduated from the Graduate Banking School of Colorado, held at the UC-Boulder campus each summer. She received her MBA from the Univ. of Montana in 2000. She is an assistant VP at First Security Bank in Bozeman.
Mike, '88 Acctg, and Shelly (Goosey) Seifert, '88 BioSci, live in Bismarck, N.D., where Mike is a CPA and controller with Bobcat Ingersoll Rand. Shelly is a M.D. and practices with Mid Dakota Clinic.
Connie (Hossfeld) Umbright, '88 PSci, and husband, Jon, recently moved to Missoula. He works at St. Patrick Hospital and Connie is firm administrator for the law firm of Garlington, Lohn & Robinson. "Never fear--still a true blue Bobcat even in the heart of Grizzly territory."
Karen (Neumann) Latka, '89 Bus, Helena, and husband, Michael, recently moved back to Montana to reconnect with family and friends. "Looking forward to getting to know everyone again." Send us an e-mail at mklatka@yahoo.com.
