Spotlight |
| "I
am an older student, who left the workplace after 16 years
to pursue a master's degree. It's difficult for many reasons
to make that decision and of course one of those reasons
is money. One must weigh lost income opportunity and the
cost of education in the present versus potential gains,
financial and otherwise in the future. |
| While
the scholarship dollars have a very real, direct impact
on mitigating some of that lost income opportunity, I'd
like to focus on something a bit more abstract, nonetheless
significant to me. |
|
|
| Scholarships
also have symbolic value. Being awarded a scholarship brings a person
a little psychological boost as well. Scholarship support carries
with it a message that my education is bigger than me, that someone
else believes in its value and is willing to stand with me in this
process." |

of the Holcim/Kenyon Noble Ready Mix scholarship,an endowed scholarship
for civil engineering students.
