| Dear
Alumni, |
|
..
|
| As
we begin the Alumni Association's Centennial
year, I compose this letter with thoughts
of my experiences as your alumni director
filling my mind |
|
 |
|
| I
have traveled miles and miles around the United
States, meeting alumni and friends at receptions,
dinners and tailgate parties, sharing Montana
State University stories and experiences.I've
traveled abroad learning about different parts
of the world, enjoying the journey with alumni
and friends. I have been richly blessed during
my tenure as your alumni director. |
|
| One
hundred years ago, a small group of alumni took
steps to establish the Alumni Association. Their
action made the statement that "once you graduate,
you may leave physically, however, your loyalty
and unity as alumni lasts a lifetime." Since
those early days, the Alumni Association has been
committed to keeping alumni connected with their
alma matter and alumni have shown loyalty and dedication
to Montana State. |
| Take
a moment to think about the number of alumni who,
over the years, have sat in these classrooms, studied
in the library, visited in the SUB, climbed the
M, cheered at an athletic event and walked the sidewalks
of the campus. The faces have changed over the years,
but the spirit has remained the same. Traditions
have come and gone with the decades, but the pride
in Montana State lives on. |
| You
show your loyalty in a variety of ways. On Saturday
mornings you run errands wearing your comfortable
MSU sweatshirt of Bobcat ball cap. When you are
recognized within your community or profession,
the announcement notes your affiliation with Montana
State. You routinely visit the MSU web site to keep
up on the daily happenings of the campus. You respond
with a "yes" to the student who calls
and asks you for a contribution to your academic
college. Maybe most importantly, during the holidays
or summer vacation, you connect with your best friends,
your college friends from Montana State. |
| The
Alumni Association remains a place where you will
always be welcomed. Frequently, alumni drop in the
office and say, "You have always said that
the coffee pot is on. I'm here to take you up on
your offer." They are right. The coffee pot
is on, and we are awaiting your visit. Come soon
. . . a visit with you will be a perfect way to
celebrate the Alumni Association's Centennial. |
 |
| Cheers
to 100 Years! |
