$10,000 to College of Agriculture
The College of Agriculture recently received a $10,000 gift in the form of a deferred gift annuity from John Turley, '53 AnSci, Billings, and his wife, Faye. The Turleys plan to add to the annuity in coming years to establish the Marty Turley Scholarship in the College of Agriculture, in memory of John's brother David Martin Turley, '54 Ag Sci. Named endowments require a gift of at least $15,000.
"We decided to make a gift to MSU when we were on campus for my 50-year reunion," says Turley. "We kept hearing how tuition continues to increase. We hope our gift will help some young person continue his or her education."
Turley added that the Montana Tax Credit provided a real incentive for them to make the gift and were pleased to be able to memorialize John's brother. "Marty was a very good student and spent his career teaching. I'm sure he would be glad to lend his name for bettering education," says Turley.
"It's comforting to know that there are people like John and Faye Turley out there," says Sandra Germann, '89 AgEd, '91 M, director of development for the College of Agriculture. "They recognize the growing need for scholarship dollars and the critical difference financial assistance makes in students' lives. We can't thank the Turleys enough for what they've done to help students in the College of Agriculture, now and in perpetuity."
