Cat/Griz Satellite Parties
|
|
|
|
Over 70 TV satellite parties are held around the country where alumni from both Montana State University and the University of Montana gather to watch the greatest athletic rivalry in the state and one of the longest running rivalries in the nation. Each party is held at a site which can access the game via direct TV or satellite and is hosted by an alumni volunteer.
The next Cat/Griz game is on November 21st, 2009. |

For out-of-state, there are the three ways the Cat/Griz game Nov. 22 can be viewed:
- DirecTV – Word has been passed down from the Big Sky Conference Commissioner's office on the channel for the Griz/Cat game ~ DirecTV channel 698.
- DISH Network – Dish Network Channel 409. Both the DirecTV and DISH Network Channels are the Comcast Sports Net-California channels. These are the confirmed channels as of 11/17.
- Digital Satellite – The game will be on the Digital Satellite system, which a venue can bring in only if they have a digital m-peg 2 receiver. For the satellite coordinates of the Cat/Griz game, UM will host this information on line at www.montanagrizzlies.com but coordinates will not be available until the week of the game.
- Video Streaming – Through the internet:
- The Big Sky Conference offers video streaming on a per game basis: http://www.bigskytv.org/ This is a terrific technology move for the Big Sky Conference; contact them directly with any questions or concerns you might have.
A modest cover charge of $5/per person helps defray the $19,000 cost of the satellite transmission. |
