Kerry joined the staff in 1999 after spending seven years on the road recruiting students in the Admissions Office. She serves as Event and Program coordinator for the Alumni Association planning activities such as tailgates, Cat/griz satellite parties, Awards for Excellence, Homecoming, Commencement and various other on and off campus events. Kerry also coordinates the Cat Treks travel program, the legacy scholarship, HR and Personnel and serves on several campus and community committees as liaison to the University and Alumni Association.
Hometown/where you consider home now: I grew up in Missoula and attended Hellgate High School, graduating in 1989. My parents encouraged me to consider MSU (I think they wanted me out of the house!) and my choice to come to MSU is still one of the best decisions I've made in my life!
Favorite MSU tradition: Our school colors; blue and gold - representing the sky and the sun! I also love the fact that we don't have to remind people to STAND for the fight song - it's tradition - it's what we do! I am also proud to be part of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority at MSU, a tradition since 1917 on this campus!
Favorite food: I love Mexican food and margaritas (is that a food?).
What I like about my job: The people! I love working with alumni of all ages and I truly believe my story is not that different from that of alumni in the 30's or 40's - we just graced campus at different times. I am also very GRATEFUL for the Bobcat Spirit that alumni and fans carry with them to and from all corners of our state and our world! Being a Bobcat is something unique and special - we should all be so proud of our affiliation with Montana State!
In my spare time, I like to: Family and friends are the core of who I am, so spending time with them is important to me. My sister is an MSU alumna and my family is very supportive of me and MSU. I serve on a committee at my church, have been a big sister through Big Brothers & Sisters and am active with the Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce. My largest commitment outside of work is AOII sorority, where I proudly serve as an adviser!
Something unique that most people don't know about me: I knit - yes, I'm crafty! I'm in Graduate School working toward my Masters in Higher Education Administration/Student Affairs, so I love to hunch up at a coffee shop in Bozeman and do my homework! I also collect SWATCH watches - remember those from the 80's? Next time you see me, check out my wrist - you never know which watch I'll be wearing that day! |
