Jaynee has been at Montana State University for a very long time. She started in the Office of Admissions in 1975 and in her time there assisted in the creation of the Advocats program and New Student Orientation. In 1992, Jaynee moved from Admissions to the Office of Alumni Relations and Alumni Association where she serves as Executive Director. When it comes to Montana State University alumni, Jaynee is there. She serves on numerous campus committees, has developed new programs within the Alumni Association and is always thinking of ways to engage alumni with their alma mater.
Hometown/where you consider home now: I grew up in Billings and am a graduate of Billings West High School. While Billings will always be special to me, Bozeman has become home.
Favorite MSU tradition: The “M” on Mount Baldy is my favorite tradition. While faces have changed over the years, the spirit of Montana State University has remained the same. Since 1918, the “M” has reminded us of our university; our alma mater. Many a student has climbed the path to this monument, viewing the Gallatin Valley and all of its beauty. Say “the M” to a Montana State grad and you get a smile. We all know “the M”.
Favorite food: mashed potatoes….without a doubt!
What I like about my job: it is an honor to serve the Montana State University Alumni Association. I’m proud to share the incredible achievements of our university with alumni. I’m thrilled to bring back stories of alumni successes to share with the campus community. Good things happen at Montana State and the world is better because of them. I love working at a university where everyday is filled with exploration and teaching. It is a positive and energizing. I have always enjoyed being in a leadership and management position; being a part of a group that creates better things because of synergy than we could have on our own. Bottom line, it is challenging and fun! That is what I like about my job.
In my spare time, I like to: Spare time? Interesting thought. I strongly believe in volunteering. I a member of Rotary International, the current President of the Greater Gallatin United Way, a member of Hope Lutheran Church and serve on numerous campus and community committees. I enjoy being with Rolf, my husband and our kids, Anders and Peder and his wife Jess. Reading, listening to or playing music and baking are all a part of my spare time moments. There are just not enough of them.
Something unique that most people don't know about me: I naturally harmonize. When I hear a song, the harmony comes to me. I love singing and in my next life, I would like to perform. I did a fair amount of that in college and beyond. There is something about sharing your talents with an appreciative audience.
